Gold miner’s daughter. That shit can go very wrong.

mining 2

About eleven years ago, my father was involved in a mining accident that claimed the lives of several men.  He was lucky to escape the tragedy, but he suffered some fairly serious injuries as a result of being crushed by tons of rock.  His left leg had to be amputated at the pelvis, his lower digestive system was destroyed and his hearing was seriously damaged by the explosion.

Both the amputation and the colostomy he was left with present on-going health issues and the hearing loss makes it very difficult for him to communicate with his health care team, so I generally accompany him to his appointments and act as a translator.

What was supposed to be a routine appointment this morning has turned into something considerably more involved, so I will not be able to get to my post until tomorrow.

It’s a gorgeous day here.  Hope it’s beautiful where you are, too.  See you tomorrow!

Lots of love,

We had a demonstration of coal miners a few months ago, in Madrid. Against the conservative Government. Traditionally miners and firefighters in Spain are left-wingers.
It was funny: the cops did not dare to charge against them. At all. Same with the demonstration of firefighters. They knew with who they were dealing. Cops use to charge heavily against teenager students.

I remember when my mom got bit by the feminist bug and she would blah blah blah at him.

He always used to say “there are no atheists in foxholes and no feminists in coal mines”.

    Ain’t that the truth.

Never been in a coal mine but I spent my share of time in foxholes. Best wishes to your family…

There are atheists in foxholes, just so you know. As for coal mines, well, I can’t say. Would love to see feminists try to get more women in coal mines.

Best wishes to you both, JB. Hope the extra involvement is due a new solution to an existing problem, rather than a new problem.

Goober, I do not want to keep our debate out of topic, so you have my answer in the last post.

So sorry to hear about your dad’s ordeal, JB. 😦
Buona fortuna. You’re in our thoughts and prayers.
I hate hospitals. Which is unfortunate since I’m a nurse, but pretty standard (medical staff are the worst patients).
