Paul Elam at A Voice for Men expresses his sorrow at the mess Hugo has found himself in, and places enormous truth value on Hugo’s claims that he suffers from a fairly serious mental health problem.
To be completely honest, for the first time I actually feel sympathy for this troubled soul. His unchecked sociopathy and childlike lack of governance over his base impulses have led him to a place few gender ideologues will ever go: To simultaneous personal and professional destruction.

Fair enough. Men do commit suicide at alarmingly high rates that amount to a national healthcare crisis.
Finally, I’d like to point out how topsy-turvy things are when we have male feminists fooling around with porn stars and flying to Ukraine (Lord knows what Hugo was up to there) while manosphere writers cause scandals by settling down in monogamous relationships. It’s a crazy world out there…

I wonder if he believes in his own brand of feminism. He bashes one thing as morally wrong, then does it himself. I wonder how it feels like to build a whole public identity/career on lies? Does it make them feel like they wasted their life? Some people are willing to do it for the money and fame, but with age, all sorts of doubts sneak into our heads. You can’t buy the meaning of life with money or fame.
Not to mention it leads to never finding out who you are and what you want. A person who doesn’t know themselves and their vices, is more vulnerable to committing bad behavior.

Two thoughts: compare how fellow feminists have treated Hugo with how the founders of feminism got treated by their own: chewed up and spat out by those who were “more” radical and pure in heart. See feminist Susan Faludi’s April 2013 New Yorker history article about how second-wave “founders” like Ti-Grace Atkinson and Susan Brownmiller got thrown over, with more energy spent on thought purification than activism for any particular goal.
I was fearful some of the kerfluffle over Mr. Minter in the ‘sphere (e.g. Roosh especially) was sadly similar in tone to Jezebel-like shaming, though time seems to have calmed things down a bit. Maybe it is a guy thing that way: I always thought Minter was bleeding raw when he wrote, so I never saw him as any kind of prophet and wished him well on his engagement. While Hugo’s stridency in particular offended me, now that he’s fallen for good I can’t bring myself to put the boot in.

The case with the hitman that you mentioned has had a new development recently, the women during her trials smeared the RCMP saying they refused to help her and other such accusations. This sparked an inquiry into how the RCMP treated her and they were just cleared as having treated her correctly. Part of the basis for her getting off is that the RCMP ignored her pleas for help and so she was driven to the extreme, however it’s just been proven that the RCMP acted properly, given this new evidence(which should have been looked into in the first place) we will have to see if they reopen the case.

Actually Hugo himself said he is mentally ill. He is a drug addict. He has been in and out of psyche wards and attempted suicide several times, and murder at least once. Its all on his own blog. The man needs help.
But what I don’t get JB, is if you are so “anti-slut” then why are you so “pro-porn”?
I recently left a comment under one of your pro-porn articles that while I am not in favor of an all out governmental ban, I do think the UK politician (or whatever he is) has the right idea of allowing people to opt in or out of porn by IP address on their computers.
If adults want to opt in and spend their precious and limited time searching for adult porn, go for it. But I shouldn’t have to be subjected to extreme pornographic images that I have not sought out. And this has happened to me more than once, that too when I was on the net with children.
And if porn is such a human right and civil right, those who feel that way should not feel negatively if their own kids choose to aspire to become porn actors when they reach legal adult age. If such people feel negatively about it, then that is the height of hypocrisy.

As far as I’m aware, Hugo’s marriage was not “open”. He was sneaking around and cheating on his wife. But beyond that, the man is in fact mentally ill and a drug addict and he needs serious professional help. “Manning up” and telling internet “bitches” to “back off” is not going to change that. Time away from the drama of the internet and in the office of a trained, professional mental health practitioner is what he needs. Perhaps even some very carefully prescribed and monitored pharmaceuticals, which I normally oppose. But his mental illness and drug addiction is very extreme, if you read his own account of multiple suicide attempts and at least one murder attempt, at his own website.
He, his wife and child, are all going through hell right now.

Sorry, Hugo Schwyzer is a narcissistic alcoholic drug addict and fame whore. Needless to say that he also has poor impulse control issues. I don’t have much sympathy for him, beyond hoping he gets the help he seems to desperately need. As for his “male feminist” act and the ire he drew from feminists, well, he brought that all on himself.
It’s an object lesson for any man ever tempted to go from general beta white-knighting to full-on identification with feminists: they will at best be treated as side-show curiosities or tamed pets whose slightest transgressions will be swiftly punished.

Personally, I enjoy seeing his downfall bar the mental problems (something nobody has control of so I wish you a speedy recovery Hugo if you see this). Other than that, I love seeing so-called self-proclaimed “male feminists” or “allies of feminism” humiliate themselves. The self-important sense of superiority complex and hypocritical lambasting of everything male through half-truths, distortions and downright lies, the sort of misery that pursued me without relief til I was 16 despite being innocent of any wrongdoing, only to see such morons disgrace and humiliate themselves totally and expose their own hypocrisy just fills me with joy.
