REPOST: The moment I knew feminism was a crock of shit

25 Jul

In light of all the interest in anti-feminism lately, I thought I would repost this older article explaining how I came to reject feminism.

When I originally started university, I was enrolled in the Sociology of Work and Industry specialization, thinking that I would complete a degree that would give me some sort of qualifications for employment. I wanted to get a head start on my program, so I took my first course during summer school and it took me all of twelve weeks to figure out that a professor’s job is pretty much the best one you could possibly have. Professors have more or less complete control over how and when and what they work on, and they are free to follow their own interests. I watched with complete envy as professors strolled into class late, gave lackadaisical lectures, rambled on about their own ideas and then went to the pub with us to grab a few beers and discuss some esoteric bullshit in further detail.

Going to university was a revelation for me. Suddenly, pointing out in exquisite detail exactly why people were stupid and their arguments were retarded was not some awkward social flaw, it was the key to getting those participation marks! Explaining in graphic detail why other’s people’s ideas were ludicrous was called an essay! Being all judgy and bitchy was the entire point!

Needless to say, I loved it.

True story: I once made a girl cry in class by calling her stupid (not in that exact word, of course). For one of my electives, I took Women in Christianity (hey – bird course!) and some little chicky thing got up to explain the virgin birth as an example of parthenogenesis. Basically, that means self-fertilization. An ovum develops into an embryo without sperm, commonly occurring in insects and plants. Leaving aside the fact that insects and plants ARE NOT HUMANS, obviously the offspring would have to be genetically identical to the parent. Where would any new genetic information come from? So not five minutes into what was supposed to be a 30 minute presentation, I put up my hand and said, “Wait! Are you saying Jesus was a WOMAN”?

She thought about that for two seconds, realized her entire argument was a colossal piece of shit and burst into tears.

Yeah, I’m a bitch. And kind of judgy, too.

So I knew that I would never leave the university. I would go on take graduate work, then post-graduate work and snag me an office of my own. I became very good friends with an untenured history professor who cemented my resolve to become a professor. She had to “work” quite hard, but her thesis was on farm girls and what they actually did, and to me, spending hours in the library pouring over agricultural records didn’t seem much like work at all.

farm girls

It seemed like heaven.

FarmGirl’s thesis was eventually published as a book (earning her tenure) and she is now compiling a historical record of the evolution of the butter churn. For well over $100 000/year. What a great fucking job. FarmGirl encouraged me to choose something that really interested me, and so after careful consideration, I decided that sitting on my ass watching movies for the rest of my life seemed like an excellent use of my time and intellect. So I left sociology for the Department of Film Theory, and so began my journey deep into the heart of feminism.

Naively, I thought a degree in Film Theory would involve film and theory. Little did I know that the theory was a rather specific one: men suck and women are awesome. AKA feminism. Well, okay. I was just a teenager myself, having walked away from a marriage proposal from an awesome guy because I was suspicious that being married and having children might ruin my life – that’s what all the ladies around me were saying. “Don’t do it! You have your whole life in front of you! Don’t throw it away on a man, even if he is kind of fantastic”.

So down the rabbit hole I went. My first “theory” was written by Laura Mulvey, called “Visual and Other Pleasures”. The theory is that when men look first in a film, that gaze is controlling (bastards!) and turns women into objects (assholes!) and then when women DO look first, they get punished (misogynists!). We watched an Alfred Hitchcock film and then sat about railing about what dicks men are. Sadly, the class was overwhelming male, and I wonder what has happened to those men? Sitting through class after class, learning that men are cruel and useless and stupid.

laura mulvey

Throughout the four long years of my indoctrination, I was always a bit nervous and embarrassed and dare I say ashamed of the things I was learning. I have three brothers, and going home for Thanksgiving and Christmas and summer holidays was always a stark reminder that my life was filled with men and they were nothing like the men I was learning to fear and hate at school. There was always something a bit off with all the theories. It wasn’t until my fourth year, when I confronted Moniqe Wittig that the bulb suddenly blared into full spectrum light.

Essentially, Wittig’s argument is that only lesbians are truly women and that only lesbians experience true freedom. Taking as a starting point the idea that freedom is central to the definition of humanity, Wittig is basically arguing for the end of the human race. If the only way to experience freedom is to be a lesbian, men are instantly irrelevant. Without men, there are no children. Without children, there is no future. It’s PD James and the End of Men.

That’s when I knew the whole theory was just a giant crock of shit. My last essay was “Feminism as Nihilism” and I think I made the professor cry, but you know what? Fuck her. Fuck all of them. Fuck their ugly theories and their hatred of men and their cavalier attitudes towards the flesh and blood men who sat in front of them taking notes on their own extinction. Fuck my whole four years of useless squabbling and arguing and pointless pedantic pedagogy.

I left university and decided to go to work. And with a degree in Film Theory – yeah, that worked out well. I know how to make awesome lattes and frappacinos. Thanks feminism!

So we know what happens next: I go to MBA school and walk away with an MRS and every day I breathe a sigh of relief that I escaped a life of endless whining and complaining and imagining myself a victim and railing over at Jezebel about what a bunch of fuckers men are!

In retrospect, I should have married that lovely boy when I was 19. I should have done dishes for a decade and thought about my future and what I wanted and why.

I’m very lucky that things worked out for me so beautifully. For many women, that isn’t the case. They bought the “men suck, women are awesome” theory of reality and find themselves living lives they hate with men they don’t respect and children they never see. How sad.

And how splendid is the irony that in just a few short years, I WILL be a professor? In the Faculty of Business. The one faculty where women’s studies majors fear to tread. We try to limit our bullshit to currency swaps and derivatives pricing.

One thing that strikes me, looking back at four years of Catherine McKinnon, Andrea Dworkin, Luce Irigaray, Germaine Greer and Kate Millet.

Why are all these bitches so ugly?

Could be a theory there.

Lots of love,

Would pathogenesis necessarily require the offspring to be the same gender? The same genetic material could be expressed as a male, it would just have a different chromosome, no?

Correct me if I’m wrong, I’m no biologist.

But JB, you WOKE UP. The light went off, you were able to look at the real world around you, compare it to what you were being told, and you made the right choice.

It can be done. So I have little sympathy for the overly-aggressive anti-male types, and am actually GLAD they are miserable.

And I know that, in some ways, that makes ME a terrible person. It’s not always easy to make that choice … but it CAN be done.

I do sympathize. I’m … really fat. Like, Jabba the Hutt’s understudy fat, so in that sense, I continue to make the wrong choice.

But I acknowledge that, and I try to do better. I also don’t resent those people who DID make the right choice, and are slim.

That’s the difference, I think. There’s no live and let live with the aggressive feminists. Not only are they RIGHT, but you (well, me, a lame) are WRONG just for existing! How do you live and let live with that?

Why are so many feminists ugly? Beauty is skin-deep, but ugly goes to the bone.

I am sorry about the boy when you were 19, and any lost opportunities, but I am glad you are happy for where your life is — and have a blast being a Professor!

Thanks for posting, and for letting people like me post even when we don’t always have a lot to add.

    Thank you.

Hate to say it, but I’ve never seen an attractive feminist. So I figure it’s pretty much unattractive women who become leftists, since leftist is based on envy. They want to drag other women down to their level and make them just as unhappy as they are.

  4. javaloco July 25, 2014 at 16:43 #

No biologist either, however I do know that the Y in XY that makes a human male is delivered by a male.

Part from that, I know very little about chimerism, a real condition where people can have different genetic codes, depending on where a sample is taken. Could there then be male and female encoding in the same body? I don’t know.

  5. Jack July 25, 2014 at 17:55 #

    Hi YouSoWould

I just finished “The Red Queen” which speaks at length on the subject of parthenogenesis. And while I don’t pretend to understand the subject in depth, suffice it to say that the gender of children in our species come from the sperm, not the egg. Thus if self-fertilization were actually possible, then women would have only the ability to create other females. Never any males.

  6. YouSoWould July 25, 2014 at 17:57 #

    Ok fair enough, cheers.

  7. LostSailor July 25, 2014 at 18:16 #

In humans, where would the Y chromosome come from? An ovum contains only half the genetic material for reproduction and has an X chromosome. If a human female could somehow fertilize herself, it would have to be because two ova combined to provide a complete set of genetic material.

Now, I’m not a geneticist, but logic says that a zygote thus created would by definition have two X chromosomes and would therefore be female. Whether it would necessarily be a clone I can’t say, but it would definitely be female.

Big Red could be cute if she fixed her attitude… but she’s just the exception that proves the rule.

  9. Goober July 25, 2014 at 20:57 #

The thing is, there are actually a bunch of feminist leaders out there who could actually be cute. None beautiful, as far as I can tell, but solid 7’s, at least.

The problem is that their inner turmoil, hate, and envy twist them into hideous hags, whether they’re pretty or not.

It’s kind of like you said about Shona Sibrary – she’s ugly as hell, but if she were a sweet person, in spite of her looks, I’d consider her looks to be quirky and endearing. But since she’s such an abjectly awful person, all I can think about (thanks to someone on this comment forum) is the deformed guy from Goonies. What was his name?

  10. Tim July 25, 2014 at 21:15 #

Hatred is the foundation of feminism, the KKK, slavery, the hatred of Jews, etc. The patriarchy! The evil white men! The evil black men! Feminism was founded by a bunch of deeply disturbed, cluster B, fat ass, entitled, narcissistic white women. Hitler was successful for the very same reason. He played upon the worst in all of us. Hitler represents what lives deep within each of us. What’s that? Hate.

As we all know, there are no racist blacks. As we all know, there are no racist women. To come to this understanding, one need only forget thousands of years of history. One need only forget the backstabbing habits of women. One need only forget Paula. Palestinians don’t really hate Jews. Catholics don’t really hate Protestants. Blacks didn’t sell lower status blacks off as slaves. There are no ritual killings by blacks against blacks in Africa. There are no ethnic cleansings. Hold my hands, folks – there is no hate (except by men). Sing it with me (joyfully): Kumbaya my Lord…Kumbaya, kill all of the evil men, Kumaya.

MGTOW represent the epiphany that counteracts and undoes the utter stupidity that infests the feminist hate disease AND ALL OTHER HATE DISEASES. Feminism is the disease upon the disease. Feminists hope to hang all of the blame for all of societal ills on men. They think that by painting men as the evil oppressors, they themselves will escape judgment. They will not. Nevertheless, women are like that. Why? Women are fucking cowards. Many blacks hope to accomplish the same. They too are fucking cowards! Women want men to respect them as they are, but are the first to cry, “Small penis! Lives in his mother’s basement! WTF – Marry down!? Loser! Homo! Wage Gap! RAPE! ABUSE! Women should not suffer the same sentences as men for equal crimes! So what if many more men are homeless than women – there are actually women homeless! Who cares if men die younger than women – women are still dying! Who the fuck cares is men aren’t finishing high school or graduating college – only women matter! ALIMONY! CHILD SUPPORT!” The list of entitlements goes on…and on…and on.

That others might inject their own hatred…for whatever reasons…is an attempt by them to validate their own hate and destabilize the MGTOW awakening. Fuck them! MGTOW aren’t going away. You can’t negate the truth. You can try…but you’ll only further harm yourselves.

Let’s get real here. The real problems in the world today are the result of female entitlement, narcissism (of both black and white women) and greed. Women need to get off their high horses and realize that all of civilization was brought into being by men. Look the fuck about you when you drive down the road. How much of what you see was built by women? Not a fucking thing! Not one fucking thing! Women are not sugar and spice and everything nice. Women are inherently selfish, egotistical and narcissistic. Men (black, white, brown, or whatever) will come together to counteract these destructive traits in women. Women are truly stupid.

What the fuck did the racists think would happen? What the fuck did the Nazis think would happen? What the fuck did the feminists think would happen? Bunch of fucking low life cowards! How, the fuck, do these people look themselves in the mirror every day?

MGTOW will force all to accept their own failings. MGTOW are the conclusion to the big show. Tradcon women better get their shit together. If tradcon women want to create a future in which men live on bended knee for women and sacrifice their lives for women, you’d better destroy the fems, do it fast, and restore some fucking social good. If not, then build your own fucking roads, bridges and buildings. Fight your own wars. Have your tits and vaginas blown off to protect men and their children. How does that sound?! Ask me if I care anymore.

Women are God like. Man are evil. Let’s all be honest here. Men love women and children. Women use and exploit men. I know it’s not easy to digest, but that’s the truth. Hence, low cut blouses and high cut skirts. Usery: the illegal action or practice of lending at unreasonably high rates of interest.

Maybe you should look up what “In lieu of” means and how it is used, then replace it through the magic of editing? Otherwise, a wonderfully valid piece. Nice to see you back on terra firma.

  13. judgybitch July 25, 2014 at 22:59 #

Did I misuse “in lieu of”? What does it mean? I hate doing that. Please explain. Fighting a Twitter war, No time to google.

Help me JShaft. You are my only hope!

  14. JShaft July 25, 2014 at 23:01 #

Okay! *White Knight Mode Activated!* :p

Sort of “Instead of” or “Despite lack thereof”, so kind of the opposite of what I think you’re trying to say…

Now, get back to arguing on the internets!

  15. judgybitch July 25, 2014 at 23:03 #

That is what I thought it meant. Will have to find where I used it.

  16. judgybitch July 25, 2014 at 23:04 #

Opening sentence. I see. And yes, that is dead wrong. Thank you for pointing it out. I think I meant “in light of”.

    Will edit and fix.

    well, that was agenda’d

  23. JShaft July 26, 2014 at 01:57 #

    Yeah… these guys *shakes head*

I’ve looked at MGTOW stuff out of some sort of scientific need to judge for myself… Looks like they’re one step away from Lesbian Separatists… Seriously guys, if you hate women that much, just start adapting and learn to love manparts. It’ll take the whiny edge off your dogma, trust me…

Seriously, the difference between “We hate men and refuse to fuck them” and “We hate women and still wanna fuck them” is a tiny sliver of pathos stacked on a big bale of pathos…

To put it in terms I tend to hear from your self-identified crowd: Man up, sack up, get over it, cope, and stop crying like a girl. Hating all women because some women belong to a group that hates men is… Well? What would you call it?

Keoni Galt and Richard Nikoley both have good advice for eating better. They avoid the theology of Paleo by supporting what works. I am slowly switching over to a more real food diet like they talk about. I need to lose wieght and I am, but I am not on a diet. Real food is just good for you. I am also learning to cook better. The better I get at cooking, the more fun it is, and the more I enjoy sharing what I have made.

I still eat to much Monsanto food. I need to walk more. What I have done is to start the journey by beginning to walk in the right direction. I hope you do too.

  26. JShaft July 26, 2014 at 02:18 #

Oh, and as to the article in general: Nice to see someone deconstruct it all as bullshit, then get to what I see as a big part of the matter: “Ugly” women. Ugly doesn’t have to be on the outside…

Some people never learn to be nice to people, to see them as equals. Others never learn their own boundaries, and how to appropriately manage them. Some people never learn that criticism doesn’t equal invalidation of the person, but merely of the argument.

A lot of people will harshly judge those who never learned these skills, but rarely do they examine how many skills they themselves lack, including the ability to be humble :p. In any case, a poorly formed personality is only seen as either a crime or an illness beyond a certain point, before that it’s either the owner’s fault, or something to be looked up to (IE: “That guy doesn’t give a fuck what anyone thinks of him! He’s so cool!”).

I think physical attractiveness is one of those things that can feed into personalities being, well, less than adequately balanced. In either direction. Too far one way leans one somewhat towards narcissism, too far the other way leads to feelings of shame and despair, which often leads to hate and rage at the unfairness of it all (and let’s face it, the world would be just that little bit fairer if Ms Greer wasn’t born with that head).

Still, it’s easy to blame people for ending up in these understandable places, while we ignore those who somehow manage to not go there. We spend all our time marveling over Batman, rather than praising the orphan who dedicates their life and money to fighting poverty. It really should be the other way around.

Why? If we started pitying them, seeing it as the norm for pain and rage to breed more of same, then it’d be a shitload easier to discount those who argue from that position.

No-one would argue that a serious burns recipient has trouble dating, or getting someone to find them attractive. Also, no-one would blame them for being generally grumpy at their intended love interests for not reciprocating. However, no-one publishes their angry rantings, their pseudo-intellectual, hatred-driven ramblings against those with nice skin. And that’s not to say that they don’t get written, that this kind of “envy” (it shouldn’t be a dirty word, to want what everyone else seemingly takes for granted) only pours forth from bitter Feministas.

Seriously, there are deaf parents who outright refuse to let their children get cochlear implants so they can hear. Why? It’s really simple: Deaf culture exists, and there are really few non-deaf people involved in it. Getting your kid the implant is, to them, like asking black parents to willingly bleach their children for a better life. But, it’s also like refusing your child the ability to gain a sense everyone else has.

Man, I loved the times before I got therapy, when I could judge people harshly for this sort of thing, rather than see the complexity… But, in the end, if they wrote huge dogmatic doctrines proclaiming the evils of the hearing world, we’d pat them on the head and frown in that horribly patronising way we do when that sort of thing happens.

    Let’s do that to Feminism…

  27. Major-General July 26, 2014 at 06:54 #

JB, your film experience reminds me of the Bechdel Test, which really just shows how dull movies about women are. Come to think of it, the only ones I know of off-hand that I think would pass are the Resident Evil movies.

  28. Paul Murray July 26, 2014 at 12:43 #

the idea of a virgin birth only makes sense when you no nothing about the mechanisms of reproduction. To the people of the iron age, the spirit comes out of a man, the seed, and grows inside the woman. Since this is a spiritual act (we can ignore and handwave away the gross material part of it, because we are greek philosophers), it’s perfectly legit for the spirit of God to make a woman pregnant by exactly the same spiritual mechanism that men do. Without the icky bits.

Knowing about atoms and genes and DNA kinda puts a kibosh on thinking like this, as it does most miracles.

    What a misogynistic film.

  32. Goober July 29, 2014 at 00:25 #

A little harsher than I would have been – I’m more inclined to allow folks to believe what they want, try to correct them if I can, and let them do what makes them happy.

I’ve met some truly happy MGTOWs. I’ve met some miserably unhappy ones, too.

In all, the entire lot of them has convinced themselves that 50% of humanity has become so irredeemable that they don’t even want to associate with them anymore, which is odd, considering that the MGTOWs on this forum are writing their rants about how shitty women are on a blog written by a woman, who writes things largely in support of their cause.

I try to be reserved about painting 50% of the human population with such a large brush as to consider them all the same and write them off.

However, Jshaft, you might consider that a very large portion of these guys have had a woman hurt them, badly, and are dealing with that in the best way they know how.

Probably not a good wound to try to run too much salt into, you know?

  33. JShaft July 29, 2014 at 01:00 #

Yeah, look, I get all that, but…

I’m sorta looking mostly at bigger picture stuff, and learning lessons from history. Feminism gave some women with quite justified (to the extent that such things can be) grievances against malekind a voice, and what happened? They spoke. They ranted, they did what humans with strong emotions often do, which was constructed entire frameworks of (often quite spurious) logic to justify their feelings. A whole bunch of that forms the bedrock of the manhating within feminism.

The more I look, the more I see people on both sides of the fence tarring everyone with the same brush, using gendered insults (for every angry neckbeard who can’t get laid, there’s a shrill, whiny princess or a crazy bitch). While on the one hand, most data seems to suggest the bulk of DV is mutual, all I ever hear about from Feminists is stories of evil violent men, and from MRA’s stories of evil, violent women.

Me, I’m inclined to think there’s something wrong with most people who are violent in most circumstances, and doubly so if they remain in circumstances they find themselves being violent in, or being the victim thereof. But… It’s also not something they wouldn’t want to change if they knew how. They may be broken, but they’re not bad people.

Finally, being someone who is “in recovery” from an evil bitch mental illness (ask Mr Elam :p), one of the first steps to making one’s life less massively traumatic is to stop obsessing on one’s own trauma. The other is to give up on applying blatant negative judgements to others. I hear a lot of people tell me it’s somehow healthy for these people to be ranting and swearing and judging harshly, but I’ve yet to see it help any of them. Funnily, purely validating them for their emotional outbursts seems to only have one effect in the long term…

Ahhh, memories of my photography art “degree” and art theory. I was one of those males sitting in those classes. It wasn’t as bad as you might imagine because it really is just a stupid game of arguing and one-upsmanship and currying favor with the professor. Everyone’s playing the game, male or female, trying to find that special niche of victimhood. That game kept me entertained for a few years since I also like to argue and prove people wrong. Slowly but surely, though, the ideology creeps into your head and you’re part of the cult.

But then I got pooped out of school with a completely stupid and useless degree, having never learned the first thing about the technical skills that would have at least allowed me to earn money as a commecial photographer. It took a few years for me to return to the land of the sane.

    Thanks for this piece!

  35. PeppermintPanda August 1, 2014 at 04:25 #

Some feminist women are not ugly, but I think a lot of ugly women become feminists to vent their anger about being ignored by men.

In general, the 80-20 rule applies to attraction an 20% of people receive 80% of the attention from the opposite sex; and the bottom 20% of people from either sex will receive almost no interest from the opposite sex. These “ugly” people often end up angry or artificially nice to the opposite sex as a way to cope with their ugliness.

  36. Marko August 2, 2014 at 01:44 #

Having read a little about the founding feminists pasts, it seems a lot of them had some serious daddy issues. That right there explains a lot of their man hate.

  37. 92redrevolver August 16, 2014 at 11:10 #

Only men carry Y chromosomes. You cannot pass on a Y chromosome if you’re female.

Therefore, women would only be able to reproduce with their X chromosomes, resulting in a female baby.

  38. etmalthusianism August 30, 2014 at 16:35 #

Parthenogenesis could not result in a male baby for the reasons others have listed but in that biological environment no males would ever be needed for the business of reproduction. That would have to be the radfem’s wet fantasy.

But for that to happen biological evolution would be involved perhaps artificial selection (eugenics) because no amount of social narrative reconstruction would ever usher in the biological changes needed. The prospect of eugenics to realise the radfem’s utopia has overtones of Nazism and moves the Godwyn hyperbolic “feminazi” disturbingly close to reality.

  39. Valhar2000 September 11, 2014 at 11:48 #

Why are all these bitches so ugly?

I would say it’s because they are ugly on the inside. You do hear people saying things like “I don’t have to like her to wanna fuck her”, but that does not apply to me, and I’m sure I’m not alone in this. People who are unpleasant, repellent and repugnant in act, thought or speech will be so in appearance as well.

  40. Valhar2000 September 11, 2014 at 11:52 #

Do you ever find attractive women you don’t like?

I tend to perceive people I don’t like as uglier, and people I do like as prettier, so I expect never to find a Feminist attractive, at least not for very long.

Might the same apply to you?
