A response to Amanda Marcotte

First of all, let me preface this by stating how honored I am to be included on a list of women as prominent and talented as Christina Hoff Summers, Phyllis Schlafly, Cathy Young, and the Politichicks. Do I belong on that list? Absolutely not. There is only one reason I made it: I have spanked Amanda on my blog repeatedly and it clearly struck a nerve. I have had a small amount of media coverage, but nothing to warrant being included with these other incredibly influential and powerful women whom Amanda doesn’t wike!

Demonstrating the typical indifference of feminist writers in the media, Amanda took her personal feelings and turned them into an article. If Amanda was truly interested in profiling the most widely disseminated women in the men’s rights movement, she would have put Karen Straughan, who has video views numbering in the millions on YouTube, or Erin Pizzey who is an internationally recognized advocate for men affected by domestic violence or the HoneyBadgers who reach thousands of listeners weekly through their radio show on the list.

But she didn’t.

She put Janet Bloomfield at number 5.

This was personal, and I only have two words for Amanda:

thanks

You just gave me the exposure it would have taken me years of diligent work to get otherwise.

Let’s look at Amanda’s piece a little more closely. I am “supposedly” the PR rep for AVfM. And here we have the typical feminist approach to journalism – don’t bother with anything like facts or research. It would literally have taken one mouse click to get to the AVfM Masthead where my position is listed pretty clearly.

masthead

And I’m pretty sure her little slam at my effectiveness broke the irony meter – uhm…Amanda….you put my name in Salon! Goodness, what if I sucked at irritating feminists and goading them into publishing my name far and wide? I also love the links to David Futrelle, where he argues that pictures of male genital mutilation are abusive – but not the mutilation itself. And the second link to Jessica Valenti? Priceless. The whole point of those quotes, done in the spirit of Poe’s Law, was to make sure lots and lots and lots of people get a chance to see Jessica in her darling t-shirt.

For those of you interested, that is how Jessica responds when men attempt to discuss issues that affect them negatively: you know, things like suicide, homelessness, poverty, unfair child custody and family courts, a broken education system, the elimination of due process in campus rape trials … nothing terribly important.

tears

Amanda, you’re the best! Thank you so much.

Amanda goes on to speculate about why anti-feminist women might care about half of all human beings.

What makes some women so nasty toward other women that they would actively work to deny women equal rights, or even access to healthcare and basic safety?

Women already have equal rights – in fact they have MORE rights than men. Remember that Futrelle link to male genital mutilation? Yeah, that’s legal to do. FGM may occur but we rightly consider it a barbaric practice and a criminal act. Women have the right to be protected from a knife cutting off parts of their genitals. Men do not.  Hey, Amanda, did you sign a draft card when you turned 18? Just asking…. And can you choose parenthood, Amanda? Of course you can, and you personally oppose a man’s legal right to choose parenthood. You wrote an article about it, filled with nothing but scorn and bullshit.

WOMAN

equal

FEMINIST

Let me make this absolutely clear, fighting against feminists, who are standing in the way of equal rights does not equal hating women. Woman is not a synonym for feminist. Get over it. Very few women identify as feminists, and you are a big part of the reason why.

For some, it’s religious conviction. Some like to imagine they’re somehow special and better than all other women. Some enjoy the easy attention they get from sexist men by bashing women and others enjoy the financial perks of being the woman who is willing to speak out against feminism.

Yes, many religions believe in equality. I am personally an atheist but I have no problem with others who are motivated by religious feelings, as long as they do not attempt to deny others X Y or Z based on their religion.

You’ve politely called us attention whores. How charming. What many, many of us are is mothers – and we want a world in which our sons have just as many rights and protections as our daughters. We want our sons to have the same respect and opportunities as our daughters. And we don’t just want that for our children, we want it for all children.

Financial perks? You must be fucking kidding me. There are no financial perks to being anti-feminist. The very small amount of money I have been able to generate with my writing has been paid directly into the AVfM PayPal account, and that will continue to be the case until we are talking dumptrucks of money.

But regardless of their reasons, female misogynists are putting personal gain ahead of the health and wellbeing of average women, and for that they should be held just as accountable as men who attack the equal rights of women.

Please remember it works both ways. Feminist misandrists are putting personal gain ahead of the health and well-being of average men, and for that they should be held just as accountable as women who attack the equal rights of men. Hint: you’re one of those women, Amanda.

And you will be held accountable.

Sooner than you think.

Lots of love,

JB

It may have been better to not thank her just yet. At the moment, more attention towards blogs like this are for the better and I’d hate for her to “learn a lesson” and stop giving it attention like she is.

Manjaw Mandy and Valenti are not “working” to advance rights for women, though they undoubtedly enjoy the financial perks. Because propagandists can really make coin. And they are nothing more than rank propagandists. They would have been right at home writing for Pravda or for Joseph Goebbels. Manjaw Mandy particularly writes as if feminism has had no impact on society or men; it’s straw oppression.

But, to be fair, it’s the only way they have of getting or maintaining any traction. They have no choice but to double-down on outlandish rhetoric. If they don’t, the whole feminist house of cards would come tumbling down. Hell, they might have to get actual real jobs. And they know it. With the continuing emergence of ever-more ludicrous Social Justice Warriors, they know that the whole movement is sliding into ever-more obvious self-parody.

Mandy has consistently made clear her disdain for marriage and it’s clear she hates families, witness her recent piece claiming that home-cooked meals are slavery “for a bunch of ingrates who would rather be eating fast food.” That is a nutshell is how she views women’s families, a bunch of ingrates.

These women have utterly black souls…

In case anyone accuses us of faking quotes.

Just like a feminist to look at someone who lives in a vermin-infested motel room and what bothers them is that the person feels they have to cook dinner.

Okay, now I’m actually angry at this person. Normally I just laugh off their stupid, but… I’m the one who cooks at home. I make sure there’s a tasty, nutritious meal on the table. Grrrr! To see one of my inputs into the family unit belittled because she’s to lazy to bother…

    I hope she gets scurvy.

Congratulations on the publicity, Janet! But I am wondering what you admire about Phyllis Shlafley, the woman who defeated the ERA, which supposedly would have put women and men in completely equal standing under the law. No more U.S. women registering to vote without registering for the draft (unless of course the U.S. has enough sense to do away with the draft altogether), no more affirmative action for women in the workplace or special breaks for female criminals…just equality, pure and simple.

The fact that at least SOME feminists wanted it passed tells me that, at least in the seventies, there were some feminists who wanted true equality. But now, I suppose that too many have gotten attached to having the upper hand.

Great work ms Bloomfield. I guess you really got to her. Keep putting them in their place. Maybe one day they will put their big girl pannies on and admit their complete and total failures as human beings. Remember fems only 20% women call themselves feminists and its not climbing. That’s how effective you’ve been. Lastly do you really believe 80 % of women are handmaidens of the patriarchy? That’s adorable.

I saw that Politchicks. it is funny how these conservative women are very similar all over the place. They remind me the typicall right wing Catholic women here.

That is an excellent point, Susan and thank you for bringing it up. Phyllis knew very well that women had a sweet deal and actively opposed equality. I suppose the only thing I admire about her is her unbelievable tenacity in working to defeat the ERA – she did that from a place of acknowledging that men had the harder go of things. Karen DeCrow is an early feminist who supported equality, too, and she was defeated by her own sisters.

    Not in the 70s.
    Maybe in the 20s.

The 70s feminists wre a bunch of hysterical cunts leaded by Jane Fonda.

Well… something good about the 70s feminists: Shere Hite. She was hot and focused in sex positive feminism, which is truly good for women and men. At least you are a crying beta male whos only chance to have a sad shag once a week (with luck) is marrying, and then having a metamorphosis from crying beta to beta provider baby stroker pusher.

I am thinking in a lot of Catholic tradcon men in my country who marry tradcon Catholic women, who keep their virginity until marriage but they had a lot of A-level sex. Watch the video: “F..k me in the ass cuz I love Jesus” by .Garfunkel and Oates. Superb!!! It describes to perfection a huge Spanish sociology.

Susan, I’m not really a huge fan of Phyllis Schafley (her son is also a complete loon), but the ERA was an aberration. The ERA could never even be considered today, let alone be passed into law. And if it were proposed, it would be feminists who would fight hardest to defeat it. They have too much to lose to actually write true equality into the Constitution…

You’re right about that — but I can’t help thinking that it would have been great if we’d passed it back then. Really, really awesome for gays wanting to get married and adopt children, men seeking equal parental rights in divorce cases, and male victims of rape and domestic violence.

I kind of wish someone would bring it forward for adoption now, just so the public can see how most feminist groups like NOW would respond to it..

One of the nice things that happen when you know a persons biases is that you can use their warnings as recommendations. I was wondering who else to look up — besides Christina Hoff Summers (a self-proclaimed feminist who actually understands statistics — yeah!) and the mistress of this blog. Seems like Amanda Marcotte provides me with a couple of other names. So I concur — thank you, Miss Marcotte. If nothing else, your warnings serve as a recommendation, because your vices are known.

J, I, too, was the primary cook when I was married, and I find Manjaw Mandy offensive on this one. I think she’s fine with men doing the cooking (and cleaning, and laundry, and repairs) but if women do it, it has to be for a family of “ingrates.”

    Disgusting…

Yah, they do want to get married. Many of them have the normal, human instincts of sexual attraction to the opposite sex, and a desire to have children, but they have trained themselves from an early age to utterly despise men.

So, they have sex, get married and have children with men, all the while hating their bleeding guts. If it wasn’t for all the harm they’ve done, I would feel sorry for them having to live this way.

I’ve been reading through much of your site for the last few days, enjoying every delicious minute of it, and I’ve yet to come across a single instance of you curtailing women’s rights or denying them basic health care.

It’s almost like she’s just making shit up….

Unless she considers man-hating and boy-tear bathing a basic woman’s right…which i suppose it is, if one is a horrible, soulless excuse for a human being.

These women are privileged into pure delusion and coddled into careless bufoonery. I hope, for their sake, society doesn’t crumble in their lifetimes, or they will learn what real adversity is all about.

I don’t think the wandering gangs of barbaric rapists in a post-apocalyptic world will accept rose-colored glasses as a bargaining chip to avoid their not-so-tender caresses.
